    Paddock topping.

Grass has three stages of growth: the Vegetative stage, the Elongation Stage, and the Reproductive stage.
In managing your pasture the aim is to keep grass in stage 2 (Elongation) for as long as possible. This can be done through grazing and paddock topping.

Paddock topping allows you to manage weed growth before it turns to seed and helps to revitalise your soil by returning organic matter to the soil.

Faster Pasture uses a commercial grade flail mower, which reduces the clippings to small pieces, reducing the risk of fermentation affecting animals and increasing the rate of decomposition and return of organic matter to the soil.

    Harrowing , Chain Harrow
    HARROWING
This is carried out in early spring and/or autumn using heavy chain harrows, which are dragged across the surface of the pasture. Harrowing is beneficial to the pasture because it rips out dead grass or thatch and shallow rooted weeds. It also help aerate the soil and releases nutrients helping the sward to grow stronger.
    Overseeding
An economical way to quickly boost yields of tired or burnt up silage leys following damage caused by overgrazing, flooding, drought or extremely cold weather. The overseeding or 'introduction' of these grasses will reinstate a cutting leys productivity. It will also prolong a leys ability to produce good quality forage for an extra year or two without incurring the expense or the long downtime of destroying and re-establishing a poorly performing ley. Overseeding should be carried out during spring or late autumn into a short, open sward.
